Patrick Shih, Deputy Vice President of the Feedstocks Division and Director of Plant Biosystems Design at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), has received the 2025 Charles Albert Shull Award from the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB).
The Charles Albert Shull Award recognizes outstanding investigations in the field of plant biology by researchers who are generally under forty-five years or are within ten years from the granting of their doctoral degree. The award honors Dr. Charles A. Shull, who was instrumental in the founding and early growth of the ASPB.
Shih’s research at JBEI focuses on developing the foundational knowledge and technologies needed to innovate, deploy, and engineer new traits into plants using synthetic biology approaches.
