Jay Keasling, Berkeley Lab Associate Director for Biosciences and CEO of the Joint BioEnergy Institute, has been named among the Top 100 People in Bioenergy 2012-2013 by editors and readers of Biofuels Digest. He was recognized for his work in engineering microorganisms to produce renewable, carbon-neutral biofuels as substitutes for gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. At the top of the list was U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. At #38, Keasling was among the top scientists included on the list.
