During the summers of 2018 and 2019, Pallas Chou was a high school student intern at JBEI, working in Steve Singer’s group in the Biofuels and Bioproducts Division. Pallas spent the two summers before and after her senior year working on genetically engineering thermophilic fungi to produce enzymes that aid in biomanufacturing. This research sparked an intense love and appreciation for enzymes, an interest that became the foundation of her studies at university and her commencement address to Harvard’s Class of 2023.
