Jay Keasling Receives Humboldt Award

Jay Keasling, CEO of the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), is the recipient of a 2023 Humboldt Research Award. He was recognized for his achievements and expertise in biochemistry, genetics of microorganisms, and applied microbiology. Keasling was nominated by his long-time collaborator Lars M. Blank, Director of the Institute of Applied Microbiology at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. 

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation issues over 100 awards and fellowships each year to support the research endeavors of international scientists to collaborate at research institutions within Germany. Keasling’s award will be applied toward his continued collaboration with Blank and RWTH Aachen University

The award will be presented to Keasling in March during a ceremony at the Humboldt Foundation’s Symposium for Research Award Winners in Bamberg, Germany.
