Daniel Putnam

Deputy Director of Agronomic Systems Optimization

Research Focus

My research emphasis is on the agronomic performance of robust biofuel and forage crops of diverse genetic backgrounds including switchgrass, sorghum, alfalfa and other biomass crops. Particular interest is on optimization of productivity under limiting field conditions including reduced water supply, salinity, reduced N fertilization, and differing techniques for improving yields and water productivity.

Projects

  • Switchgrass Field Trials
  • Sorghum Field Trials
  • Understanding GxE interactions of various sorghum lines under water deficit conditions
  • Cross-Impacts of unique genes with agronomic and deconstruction goals
  • Development of Crop Ideotypes
