The Woody Biomass Tools and Resources website is a resource for entities interested in woody biomass utilization and to facilitate the work of the Federal interagency woody biomass utilization group (Woody BUG), a working group of technical specialists representing federal agencies whose missions relate to the goal of encouraging the use of woody biomass.
The California Biomass Collaborative, a statewide collaboration of government, industry, environmental groups, and educational institutions administered for the state by the University of California, Davis. Sponsored by the California Energy Commission and other agency and industry partners, the Collaborative works to enhance the sustainable management and development of biomass in California for the production of renewable energy, biofuels, and products.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) provides various integrated energy analysis and tools to researchers. These integrated system analyses, technoeconomic analyses, life cycle assessments (LCAs), and other analysis tools are essential to energy research and development efforts, providing an understanding of the economic, technical, and even global impacts of renewable technologies. These analyses also provide direction, focus, and support to the development and commercialization of various biomass conversion technologies. The economic feasibility and environmental benefits of biomass technologies revealed by these analyses are useful for the government, regulators, and the private sector. NREL's Energy Analysis Office integrates and supports the energy analysis functions located in many of the laboratory's research programs and technology centers.
